Duration:

Computer Reservation Systems Training

40- 50 hours online allocated includes final assessment, plus workbook completion time. On average this will take 3 months to complete. Includes workbook for reinforcement of the formats learned online.

IATA Fares & Ticketing I & II

Approximately 80 hour online course with printed workbook for fare construction with practical exercises. Revision and Final Assessment another 20 hours allowed. You can access the course for 6 months, but it is best to complete it and the assessment within 4 months for maximum retention of the material.

What you will learn:

Computer Reservations Systems Training

How to check for airline seat availability, hotel and car rental vehicle availability, make, amend and cancel client bookings for all these products, quote airfares, hotel and car rates, issue e-tickets and many more travel industry processes including encoding and decoding cities, airports, airlines – you will actually be doing what Travel Industry Employees do each day while learning a great deal about the airline and agency sectors. You can select from Amadeus, Abacus, Galileo or Sabre.  Computer Reservation Systems (CRS) are also called a GDS or Global Distribution Systems in many markets.

IATA Fares & Ticketing I&II
IATA is the International Air Transport Association – IATA Fares and Ticketing I & II is an online course that will teach you how to calculate IATA Fares using your computer reservation systems formats.

Hayton’s IATA Fares and Ticketing I & II course is an industry recognised, well-established course, now updated for the use of a CRS/GDS.

Why do I need to learn about IATA Fares and Ticketing?

This qualification forms the basis of the required knowledge of global airfares. It will give you the background and training so necessary to understand the world of airfares. The IATA system of fare construction applies when flexible, multi-carrier itineraries are required, they often apply to corporate or business travel for full, economy, business and first class travel. IATA fares offer great flexibility for your client.

You will learn how to calculate normal international airfares using the steps of the IATA Mileage System of Fare Construction using a Computer Reservation System (CRS) – also called a GDS (Global Distribution System).

Sign in/Sign Out of GDS, Agent assembly or work areas, encode and decode cities, airports/airlines, display/redisplay a PNR (Passenger Name Record) / BF (Booking File), similar name lists, subfields and history, record locators, timetables, availability/return availability, building a PNR / BF, open and ARNK segments, adding Frequent Flyer details, general remarks, OSIs and SSRs, cancelling and changing booking elements including ticketing time limits, dividing a party, seat maps and specific seat assignments and more.

Booking Cars

Car encode and decode, car location lists, vehicle type codes, availability with a return date, booking a car, car terms

Booking Hotels

Hotel encode and decode, Hotel location lists, multi-property hotel availability, selling hotel rooms, hotel features from multi-property availability, hotel sell options, cancel hotel segments, fare displays, classes of service, fare displays, changing fare displays, fare notes, displaying specific categories of fare notes

Pricing itineraries

Is it for you?

If you are new to the industry and need certificates or are looking to join the industry but have no background knowledge or skills, then this is the package for you.

After successful completion of the Computer Reservations Systems System Training you will be competent in the skills required to book client itineraries, quote system fares and issue e-tickets. Choose between Amadeus, Galileo or Sabre.

After successful completion of IATA Fares (SITTTSL013A) you will be able to calculate IATA Fares using a computerised system, includes Calculate Normal and Advanced International Airfares, so if you demonstrate competence in all the elements you gain 2 recognised certificates.

What do I need

Good English Skills and a genuine interest in the Travel and Tourism Industry. Hayton College courses are accessed from a computer via an Internet connection. Basic PC skills along with keyboarding skills are required to complete Hayton College courses.

What will I be able to do on completion of this Package of Courses?

You will be able to encode and decode the world's cities, airports and airlines. You will be able to make reservations for your clients that include airline seats, hotel rooms and car rental vehicles. You will understand queues, ARNK and Open segments, SSRs, OSIs, vendor remarks, MCTs, how to seat assign your clients, quote airfares based on both system and IATA mileage fares, assist with visa, passport and other requirements of your clients. You will be well trained and have a wide knowledge of most industry operations processes.

What the best tip for success with this programme

Work steadily though each lesson and quiz in the order they appear, set aside a certain amount of time each week to complete at least 2 or 3 lessons (each lesson takes around one hour), set a date by which you'd like to have your courses complete and stick to it.

What happens if I can't do that or I get sick or something else interferes with my schedule?

Just let us know in writing what the circumstances are and when you think you will be able to get back on track and we can extend your course completion date
