This is the global Travel Industry’s key qualification as many employers will ask if you have this certificate when you apply for a job and it’s the background and theory that applies to all airfares. On this interactive web based course you will learn how to calculate international airfares using the IATA Mileage System of Fare Construction. Course Name: A Global Qualification called IATA Fares & Ticketing I & II – also known as SITTTSL310 – was SITTTSL013A/B or earlier  THTSOP20A/B…..same course – different codes.

Course Fees:
AUD $795.00 (Centrelink approved for eligible students, contact Centrelink - Students enquiring about their entitlement for Youth Allowance, Austudy payment and Pensioner Education Supplement should call the Centrelink Call Centre on 132490.  ABSTUDY students can call 13 2317).

Duration: 60-80 hour online course with printed workbook for fare construction with practical exercises. Revision and Final Assessment – another 20 hours allowed. You can access the course for 6 months, but it is best to complete it and the assessment within 4 months for maximum retention of the material. (A reset fee of $33.00 will apply for any student who does not request an extension by e-mail prior to the initial course expiry date).

What you will learn:
IATA is the International Air Transport Association. IATA Fares and Ticketing I & II is the global industry qualification required in  most countries prior to employment.  On this Online interactive course that you will learn  calculate normal international (IATA mileage fares) using your computer reservation systems formats. Hayton’s IATA Fares and Ticketing I & II course is an industry recognised, well-established course, now updated to train you how to use your CRS/GDS to calculate IATA Mileage fares.

Why do I need to learn about IATA Fares and Ticketing?

This qualification forms the basis of the required knowledge of global airfares.  It will give you the background and training so necessary to understand the world of airfares. The IATA system of fare construction applies when flexible, multi-carrier itineraries are required, they often apply to corporate or business travel for full, economy, business and first class travel. IATA mileage fares offer great flexibility for your client.

You will learn how to calculate normal international airfares using the steps of the IATA Mileage System of Fare Construction using a Computer Reservation System (CRS) – also called a GDS (Global Distribution System).

Also – if you want to hold a Travel Agent’s Licence in Australia you must have a certificate for SITTTSL310/312.

After your enrolment is processed, (may take up to 24 hours depending on when you register) an Account ID and Password will give you access to the course which is delivered entirely online.

Divided topics, lessons, drills and exercises followed by quizes and final assessment to demonstrate competency. It is important to take each quiz as the questions reinforce the learning process and help you to remember the key learning points.

You should complete the material within 3 – 4 months ideally for maximum retention but you have access to the material for 6 months after registration – at which time your access will expire. By this time you should have also completed the final assessment tasks.

Qualifications/accreditation/recognition:
For IATA Fares & Ticketing I&II a demonstration of competence and successful completion of this Unit of Competency leads to a nationally accredited and industry recognised Statement of Attainment will be issued. This represents credit towards the SIT31312 Certificate III in Travel.

What do I need

Good English Skills and a knowledge of a CRS is desirable. Hayton College courses are accessed from a computer using the internet. Basic PC skills along with keyboarding skills are required to complete Hayton College courses.

How long will it take to complete this course?

Most students complete the course within 60 or 70 hours - we allow 100 plus assessment time. You can access the course for 6 months, but it is best to complete it and the assessment within 4 months for maximum retention of the material.

I have heard IATA fares have some "funny" rules"! Can I get help if I don't understand any of them?

Of course, our tutors are happy to help. There is an in-course facility to e-mail your tutor, this lets them know exactly where you are in the course and they can reproduce what you are doing or seeing. Or, if it is a general question, simply send in an e-mail to support@haytoncollege.com.

How should I structure my study time?

You may study at any time to suit you. Obviously, mid-night to dawn is not usually the best time but if you make a timetable and stick to it, completing at least 2 or 3 lessons a week you will make the most of the course and retain more of the information for longer.

Can I keep the workbook that goes with the course?

On completion of the final assessment, we may need to review the workbook, but it will always be posted back to you
