What do you learn:

This GDS Hotel Reservation module will train you to access hotel information, check the availability of rooms at specific properties, make a booking for clients, understand hotel terminology, encode/decode hotel company names/codes, review hotel features, access hotel help pages and add, change, delete hotel segments from a booking plus of course, check and understand all rates and pricing displays.

9 lessons, 3 exercises, 3 quizzes, 1 final exam.

Divided topics, lessons, drills and exercises followed by quizzes and final assessment to demonstrate competency. It is important to take each quiz as the questions reinforce the learning process and help you to remember the key learning points. You should complete the material within 3 – 4 months ideally for maximum retention but you have access to the material for 6 months after registration – at which time your access will expire. By this time you should have also completed the final assessment tasks. Requests for an Extension:  Naturally, if you have any problems meeting this deadline we will consider an extension, please e-mail the College outlining the reasons for your request.

What do I need?

What about the course assessment, how is that structured?

Formative assessments take place throughout the course in the form of Online Quizzes and a number of drills give essential practice in real world skills. It is a good idea to try to achieve 100% in each quiz to demonstrate you have understood the content. Successful completion of the final online assessment and a Hayton assessment for the course called Airline Reservations and Automated Fares and Ticketing leads to the issuance of a Statement of Attainment if you successfully demonstrate competence in either GDS Car Reservations OR GDS Hotel Reservations. In the assessments you must demonstrate competence in the skills and knowledge required to operate a computerised reservations system. This is a key skills of the industry. Once you know how to use one GDS it is easy to change to using another, plus hayton does offer some cross-training modules.

How will this course apply in the workplace?

The knowledge you gain on this course underpins effective performance in many sectors of the industry. Using a GDS effectively is a key part of an employee's work in the industry and this course focuses on training students to be able to contribute in the workplace from the first day on the job, you will be able to book hotels for your clinets in any city on their air itinerary and all details will be under the one booking reference, available at any time to you or your client.

What will I have at the end of the course?

On successful completion of this Unit of Competency you will have the skills required to effectively use a CRS/GDS to book hotel accommodation for clients.

Does it make any difference which GDS I - Galileo, Sabreor Amadeus?

None whatever, the structure of each course is the same so are the required elements in which students must demonstrate competence.
