Choose the system you want to use effectivley in the workforce – Sabre, Galileo and Amadeus are the most widely used in the Australian and New Zealand market. Abacus is also available. Remember, it’s best to know one GDS well than have a shallow knowledge of more than one.

What you will learn:

This program is perfect if you have already worked in the Travel Industry and need a Refresher Course to gain a current understanding of Airline Reservations and Automated Fares and Ticketing using a Computer Reservation System.  You can choose between  Galileo, Sabre or Amadeus… this is the solution for those returning to work after a break.

On this course you will learn how to check for airline seat availability, make, amend and cancel client bookings, quote airfares, issue e-tickets and many more travel industry processes using the CRS/ GDS you choose.

NB: This program does NOT include Hotel and Car Rental vehicle bookings, these are available separately. To find out more and complete one or both of these modules, look under the Professional Development tab.

What happens after you register:

Make sure you complete the Student Profile when you register and you will receive an e-mail acknowledging your registration from PayPal. Then, the  College will confirm by e-mail sending a more indepth Student Profile for completion plus a receipt for the course fee.

After your enrolment is processed, (which may take up to 24 hours depending on the time of day you register) an e-mailed Account ID and Password will give you access to the course content.

Divided into topics, lessons, drills and exercises, followed by quizzes and final assessments to demonstrate competency, the course is    interactive and highly effective in teaching this mandatory Travel Industry skill.   For maximum retention, you should complete the material within 3 – 4 months ideally but you have access to the material for 6 months after registration  – at which time your access will expire.  By this time you should have also completed the final assessment tasks.

It is important to take each quiz as the questions reinforce the learning process and help you to remember the Key Learning Points.

Requests for an Extension:  Naturally, if you have any problems meeting this deadline we will consider an extension, please e-mail the College outlining the reasons for your request.

This is a stand alone course, there are no formal prerequisites, however, it is most suited to those currently working in the industry who need to know more about the practical application required when using a CRS/GDS. It is also great as a refresher course for those rejoining the industry after a break.

If you know something about the industry and how it works it will be a great help.

PC and keyboard skills are however, considered necessary for travel industry employment. To improve keyboard skills if they have become a little rusty, why not take a Typequick course?

Assessment

There are 2 final online assessments and in these your new skills and knowledge must be demonstrated. There is also a practical assessment in which you must demonstrate that you are competent making reservations for clients, retrieving, amending and cancelling reservations, fare quoting and issuing e-tickets.

What do I need?

Good English and computer skills plus a genuine interest in the Travel and Tourism Industry will also help. Hayton College courses are accessed from a computer using the Internet. Basic PC skills along with keyboarding skills are required to complete Hayton College courses.

My commitment

You must complete the Student Profile e-mailed after registration and include a photocopy of your photo ID. You must consistently set aside several hours a week to complete the course (depending of course, on your work commitments) in order to complete the course successfully. You must take all Quizes, Drills, Exercises and Assessments in the order in which they appear and keep in touch with your tutors throughout the course

What jobs can I do after I complete this programme?

What is the difference bewteen this programe and the reservations course outlined on the home page?

Designed for industry entrants, the course called: Computerised Reservations Training (available as Amadeus, Galileo or Sabre) includes Car Rental Vehicle and Hotel Room reservations training. These 2 component courses outlined in this area do not cover these skills, however, you may take them separately if you wish.

Does this programme have a workbook?

No, as this programme is designed for people who have some knowledge of the industry or some previous experience using a GDS, a workbook is not required. Workbooks are included for the beginners' course as they help with the retention of concepts and principles. Previous GDS users have already gained a basic knowledge of how a GDS works and the functions a travel consultant can access using one.

These modules are best taken people with some Industry experience or those returning to the workforce who wish to "Brush Up" their skills. This comprehensive programme covers all the fro,ats you will need to make airline reservations, amend and service bookings and queues, fare quote, seat assign, and issue electronic tickets.
